A short update for the 16th of January
Chers parents,
It has come to my attention that some families are having difficulty listening to and viewing the Voki character on the blog. Unfortunately the characters require Flash player to be able to play them. I do not believe they can be viewed on iPods or iPhones. (I am not sure about tablets.) I am looking into getting a link where the audio can be downloaded, or provinding recordings of the files on cds. Sorry for the confusion and the inconvenience. Thank you to those who let me know about the difficulties.
I still want to receive photos of your child doing a winter activity outside for our assembly at 9:00am on January 31st in the gym. Please send two photos (no larger than 2MB each in separate messages) to wallacej@spsd.sk.ca Thank you for the ones that have already been sent!
The children are very excited in their preparation and are working very hard. If you can arrange to attend we will be very pleased to have you in the audience.
We have begun a new winter poster entitled: La neige est merveilleuse! I will post the photo soon. We are enjoying the winter theme and all the fun that comes with it. We are also concentrating on some skills that originate from the Early Skills Development program. We are learning these concepts as a class:
L’écoute –Listening
Suivre les directives—Following directions
Répondre à une demande—Responding to a request
Ignorer les distractions—Ignoring distractions
Être en contrôle—Having self-control
Accepter les consequences—accepting consequences
The students are taking responsibility in these areas and I have seen some very good work. Bravo!

Les livres chez vous ~ Take home books
The students will be taking home books in their dossiers today. They will be due back in a week--every Friday. Each book has a number and a title. You can check the book number and title with the subsequent blog posts and read along. We have two books per blog post. (Please note the timing on the books are 1 minute in length so it goes by quickly. It is okay to pause or re-visit the same recording.) This is an opportunity to read-along in French and hear and see the correct pronunciation. We will also be discussing, asking questions and pre-viewing some of the books in class. I hope that you and your child enjoy!

Bonne Année!
Chers parents,
Bonne Année! I hope that you all enjoyed some good times with family and friends during the holiday season. I am looking forward to the learning and fun activities we will do as a kindergarten class in 2014.
Going home today is our class calendar. Please check for your child’s special day. I am also sending home a sheet asking about your child’s favourite winter activity: “Mon activité d’hiver préférée.” We will be focusing on winter and that will lead into the winter Olympics as well. We will think of questions that we can ask and answer about winter and what are some things that make it special and fun. Our new poster will be a winter scene. I am also requesting that you email me two recent photos of your child doing a winter activity if possible. Please keep the size of the photos to 2MB or less per email message. They will be used for an assembly that we will be preparing for. We hope to do this assembly Friday the 31st of January with Mme McCrea’s class. I will let you know the date as soon as possible.
We will also be working on some reading skills and asking what are reading skills. The children will be taking home classroom books that will be available to read along with characters on the blog. We will also have homework booklets soon that will focus on the alphabet and sounds the letters make. Stay tuned!
Merci!
Mme Jennifer Wallace
