Chers parents,

Just some reminders and news.

Thursday June 4^th we will be performing at the Broadway Theatre at 4:30pm.  Please bring your child to our classroom at 4:15pm.  Attendance will be taken to know who is there.  When you pick up your child back in the classroom, you must speak with me for verbal confirmation and I will check your child off the list. 

Friday June 5^th we will be walking to the Children’s Festival.  Thank you for the parents who volunteered to come.  We will leave shortly after attendance.  Please ensure your child is on time and wearing appropriate clothing for the weather, and good footwear.  We will be back for our regular dismissal.

 

Please return books June 8^th!

Monday June 15^th we will be going to the University of Saskatchewan to the Biology/Geology building to see the dinosaur skeleton models.  We will be leaving shortly after 9:00am and we will be returning at 11:00am.  If you can volunteer please let me know!

On June 17^th we will be having a fun day morning outside with our care partners.  Students need to be wearing hats and sunscreen.

Friday June 19^th we will be celebrating Dad’s day. If a parent cannot attend please send someone who can attend.  We will be in the gym after attendance until 10:30/10:45.  Come prepared to run and be active!

Wednesday June 24^th we will be walking to River Landing Spray Park.  We will need to have students wear swimsuits and over-clothes, a towel, a hat, sunscreen, footwear for walking and a snack in their bags.  If students have sandals that they can walk and get wet please send them in those—the park is very slippery and slick. 

 

Thursday June 25^th is our last day of school!  Report cards will go home that day.

June newsletter --juin

Joyeux juin!   We are here at the end of the year and our last month of school!  Thank you so much to our volunteers for our last field trips, ones coming up and those we have been on throughout the year.  We could not have done it without you! 

We are going to be studying dinosaurs, things to do with summer and celebrating dads this month.  We will also be having some special events.  Thursday June 4^th we will be performing in the school showcase musical “On Top of the World” at 4:30pm at Broadway Theater.  Please bring your child to our classroom by 4:15pm. 

On Friday June 5^th we will be walking to the Children’s Festival to see “The Little Prince.”  If you are able to volunteer and walk with us please let me know as soon as possible.  We won tickets for this event and it is exciting to be able to take it in.  We will be leaving the school shortly after attendance and returning before dismissal.  Students will need to be dressed for the weather wearing a hat, sunscreen and good walking shoes.

While older students will be swimming, Friday June 19th we will have Dads' day.  This will be from 8:50am -10:30 am in the gym.  Again if a parent is unable to attend please have someone come to participate with your child.   This will be an active time which will involve running and lots of movement; please dress for being active. 

Please stay tuned for another trip to see the dinosaur models at the University of Saskatchewan.

Wednesday June 24^th we will be walking to River Landing Spray Park.  If you can going us on the walk please let me know!

Tuesday reminder and upcoming dates

Chers parents,

Please remember that Tuesday May 26^th we will be going to the Forestry Farm Zoo.  Please ensure that your child has a hat, sunglasses, good footwear for walking and sunscreen already applied.  We will be spending the morning there and returning for dismissal.

June 4^th is our school wide musical “On Top of the World”.  Our class will be performing in the 4:30 pm show only at Broadway Theatre.  Please come and support our students.  Students will be asked to come to the classroom prior to show time.  Please read school newsletters for details.

The date for our Dad’s day is June 19^th (the same day as the school wide swim.)  We will be meeting in the gym with our class and we will be doing fun activities all together.  If a parent cannot attend please send someone in your stead.  Come prepared to be active!

News and Notes

Chers parents,

Please remember that we will be attending a show at L’École Canadienne Française tomorrow: Les 1001 tours de Monsieur Drôle.  We will be leaving the school at 9:45 and walking to the school.  Please ensure that your child has a hat and sunglasses and good footwear for the walk there.  The show starts at 10:30.  We will be returning on a bus before dismissal time.  We exchange books Friday with the guest teacher.

The following days Mme Wallace will not be in the classroom.  Teachers often become students and have other work to do. 

On Friday May 22^nd, Monday May 25^th and Wednesday May 27^th we will be having a guest teacher for those days.  Please remind your child that expectations remain the same on these days and students are also expected to be helpers.

Tuesday May 26^th we will be going to the Forestry Farm/ Zoo with our care partner class.

We are nearing the end of the school year and there is much to accomplish.  We are looking forward to enjoying many opportunities that these last weeks will bring.  Welcome back to Johnny who brought back Eiffel Towers for the class.  Merci Johnny!

1001 tours de Monsieur Drôle

Chers parents,

We have another wonderful opportunity to experience some French culture and have some fun as well.  Thursday May 21^st there is a live show entitled 1001 tours de Monsieur Drôle being performed at the École Canadienne Française  on Albert Ave.  We will be walking there to see the show that starts at 10:30am and we will be taking a bus back to the school for dismissal.  If you can and would like to volunteer as a parent supervisor please let me know as soon as possible.  I do have one volunteer already.  Thank you to those who have volunteered to go to the Forestry Farm with our class and our care partner class on Tuesday May 26^th.

IMPORTANT NEWS

Chers parents,

We will be going to a French cultural event this Thursday morning at École River Heights with the French Immersion kindergarten classes to grade four. Please ensure that your child is on time that day.  If you can volunteer to go with us please let me know by tomorrow Wednesday May 6^th.  Please remember to come to our Mother’s Day Tea  Friday May 8^th in the LRC at 9:00am.  Thank you!

Thank you to Sandy for volunteering for us this Thursday  for the trip to École River Heights .  Thanks to Sandy and Crystal for volunteering to help with the Forestry farm trip.  We will still take two volunteers for the Forestry farm zoo trip if you are interested please let me know!

Special thanks to two grade 7 helpers Anna and Sydney who helped us make cookies today.  The help was much appreciated.

And another thank you for the sweet cards, notes, gifts and "Bonne Fete!" song for my birthday today.  It was unexpected but very lovely and thoughtful.  Merci!

Joyeux mai!   We have thoroughly enjoyed April and are concluding our unit on food.  Thank you to Crystal and Sherrill for helping making bannock.  Thank you also to Stephanie and Sherrill for joining us on our trip to see Le coq de Saint-Victor.  The children enjoyed the movie very much and did quite well as audience members.  Bravo!  Now we are moving into an exciting month of May.  For your child’s special day he or she can do a picture or bring something that reminds him or her of mom. 

May 8^th our class will be hosting a Mother’s Day Tea at 9:00 am in the school LRC.  If a parent is unable to attend please send someone to be there for your child.  I have had grandmas, dads and aunties… attend!  It is a very special occasion and the children are always very proud to share with you.

On Tuesday May 27^th we will be going with our care partner class to the Forestry Farm Zoo.  I will need 4 parent volunteers.  We will be leaving shortly after 9:00am and returning at 11:30 am.

In June we will have Dads' day.  This will be from 8:50am -10:30 am in the gym.  The date will be announced.  (It will be the week of June 15-19th when the school is booked to go to the swimming pool.)  I will let you know as soon as possible.  Again if a parent is unable to attend please have someone come to participate with your child.   This will be an active time which will involve running and lots of movement; please dress for being active.  Dates for field trips will also be announced as soon as possible.

News and Notes in April

Reminder that tomorrow April 23rd is Blast from the Past!  The kids can dress up from a time gone by….another decade or even century!  Also please remember that I will need volunteers April 27^th and April 28^th.  We will be making bannock on the Monday and we will be going to a film on Tuesday.

Chers parents,

We had a great week back! We started the week with a visit from two local artists, Mr. and Mrs. Rivard.  They shared with us some knowledge about light, shadows and colour (la lumière, les ombres et la couleur) as we started our fruit study sketches on Monday.  On Tuesday we then did our still life,nature morte, paintings of a bowl of fruit.  The children did beautiful work.  The paintings and sketches are on display in the LRC glass display case.  Next week we will make our own personal fake pizzas.  We learned a little about how to divide pizzas into even numbers to share with others.  We will include shapes when we make our toppings.

 

We are looking forward to some special days in the weeks to come.  Next week April 23^rd is Blast to the Past.  Children can dress up from a decade or century that has gone by.  This is always optional but great fun to get into the spirit of the day.  Monday, April 27^th I will be baking bannock with the students.  If you are able to volunteer please let me know.  I can use one or two helpers for this undertaking.  On Tuesday April 28^th we will also need volunteers to walk with us and view Le coq de St-Victor at the Broadway Theatre for the Cinergie Festival.  I will need two additional adults.

On May 8^th we will be having our Mother’s Day Tea.  If a parent cannot attend please send someone in your place for that morning.  It will be about 45 minutes in the LRC beginning at about 9am. 

We are done our alphabet homework booklets so we will another break from homework.  Thank you for the great participation.  These booklets can now remain at home.  We are enjoying the warmer weather greatly!  Please ensure that your child still has outdoor shoes (runnners) and indoor shoes as this helps keep our school clean.
